SUNY Sullivan too much for the Jayhawks

JAMESTOWN – Playing in their second game in as many day, the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team fell to SUNY Sullivan County Community College Saturday afternoon, 90-56.

 

The Jayhawks (7-8) were led offensively by Gabby Iuculano with 17 points with Marisa Schuppenhauer adding 13 points. On the glass, Linnea Jimerson led the way with nine rebounds (4 offense, 5 defense) while Sophia DeMarco and Jesse Zenns grabbing five boards apiece.

 

The Generals got out to a quick 3-0 lead with Infinity Hammonds hitting her first three-pointer. Schuppenhauer answered by driving the lane for the layup off the steal. Jamestown took the lead after Schuppenhauer found Abi Lisciandro for the layup to go up 4-3. The Jayhawks fought off the high-powered Sullivan offense for the next few minutes before they found their groove.

 

JCC had difficulties knocking down their shots, going 16-for-60 from the floor (26.7 percent) while going 4-for-17 (23.5 percent) from beyond the arc. The Generals went 36-for-80 (45 percent) from the floor while going 12-for-27 (44.4 percent) from beyond the floor.

 

Sullivan held the advantage in rebounds with 53 to Jamestown's 42 rebounds. The Genreals also had the advantage in the paint, scoring 46 points to JCC's 24 points.

 

The Jayhawks will be back in action this upcoming Wednesday as they take on Erie Community College in conference action. Tip is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex.
