Jayhawks eye the upset on Saturday against No. 14 Niagara County

JAMESTOWN – Looking to carry their momentum into the weekend, the Jamestown Community College women’s basketball team will look to upset No. 14 Niagara County Community College Saturday afternoon.

 

The Jayhawks (8-8, 1-0 WNYAC) are coming off a dominate 72-29 win over Erie Community College Wednesday evening. In the game, Linnea Jimerson led the way with 15 points and six rebounds with Gabby Iuculano adding 14 points. Kayla Hohl had a great game off the bench, scoring 14 points while grabbing seven rebounds. Abi Lisciandro had active hands on the defensive end of the ball, coming away with seven steals.

 

Jamestown has averaged 66.8 points through 16 games this season, shooting 36.3 percent from the field Iuculano leads the way with 15.2 points per game. Marisa Schuppenhaur has been a steady hand on offense as well, scoring 9.3 points per game. On the glass, JCC has grabbed 40.6 rebounds per game with Jimerson grabbing just under seven rebounds per game. Courtney Hemminger and Jesse Zenns have also put in good work on the glass, grabbing just over five rebounds per contest.

 

JCC will a face Thunderwolves team that has posted a 20-1 record thus far on the season. Their last time out on the court, NCCC defeated Mercyhurst North East by a score of 105-60 behind 23 points form Paige Emborsky. Cierra Harrison posted a double-double for the Thunderwolves, netting 19 points while dishing out 11 dimes.

 

The Thunderwolves have put up 89.8 points per game, shooting 46.7 percent from the field. Embrosky leads the way with 16.3 points per game while Alania Forbes is averaging 13.6 points per contest. On the glass, NCCC has grabbed 44.6 rebounds per game with Molly Mahony leading the way with 7.4 rebounds per game with Aubrey Halloran grabbing 6.8 rebounds a game. NCCC can also dish out the ball, averaging 21.6 assists per game as Nikelle O’Neil averaging 5.4 assists per game.
