Jayhawks Battle to the End

Jayhawks Battle to the End

The JCC Jayhawks women's basketball team (7-17) hosted the Tribunes of Monroe Community College (22-3).  While the game quickly got away from the Jayhawks, the Jayhawks never stopped playing hard.  Being down 57-27 at halftime, the Jayhawks came out in the second half with as much passion and effort as they had when the game tipped off 0-0.  Players diving for loose balls, working the offense and finding the open shot, and players on the bench cheering on their teammates like it was a one point game highlighted the spirit of the team.  While the final score read Tribunes 94, Jayhawks 55; based on the effort and energy of the Jayhawks, the score seemed much, much closer,  and this is a tribute to the coaching and pride of the players.

The Jayhawks were led by #30 Natalie Houle (Sherman) who had 17 points (going 5-10 from beyond the arc); #34 Kaleigh Brunswick (South Dayton) had 7 points and 4 assists; #11 Hayden Burgeson (Lakewood) had 7 points; #20 Sydney Wight (Wellsville) had 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists; #33 Brianne Davis (Bemus Point) had 6 points and 4 rebounds; and #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) had 6 points and 4 assists.
