Early Kats Run Proves Too Much For Jayhawks

The JCC Jayhawks women's basketball team (6-15) host the Kats of Erie Community College (9-11).  The first period had the Jayhawks fall behind early.  Down 6-2, the Jayhawks came back to tie 6-6.  However, the Kats then went on a 12-0 run.  The Jayhawks scored 5 points at the end of the period to narrow the Kats lead to 21-15.  The Kats full press defense would confuse the Jayhawks in the first half and turnovers would cause many scoring opportunities for the Kats and when the second period ended it was all Kats 37-22.  The halftime adjustments seemed to work for the Jayhawks who began to have success against the Kats defense.  The Jayhawks scored 16 points but the Kats scored 17 points to keep their lead strong, ending the third period with the scoreboard reading 54-38  The fourth period saw the Kats offense catch fire and score 16 points to the Jayhawks 10 which allowed the Kats to down the Jayhawks 70 -48

The Jayhawks were led by #22 Jada Jackson (Wellsboro) who scored a 10 points and 6 rebounds; #33 Brianne Davis (Bemus Point) had 10 points and 4 assists; #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) had 9 points and 8 rebounds; #20 Sydney Wight (Wellsville) had 6 points and 7 rebounds; and #11 Hayden Burgeson (Lakewood) had 4 points and 4 rebounds.
