Jayhawks long ball too much for Commodores

The JCC Jayhawks women's basketball team (5-8) went on the road to face the Commodores of Lorain County Community College.  The first period saw the Commodores edge the Jayhawks 10-6 with 6 minutes left to play when #30 Natalie Houle (Sherman) hit a 3 point shot that narrowed the lead.  The Commodores set out to pull ahead further but were quickly cut off by 2 3 point shots by #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) and the first period ended with the Commodores holding a 20-19 lead.  The second period saw a 22-21 Commodores lead quickly devoured by the Jayhawks long ball as #34 Kaleigh Brunswick (South Dayton), Sperry, and #30 Natalie Houle (Sherman) each had a 3 pointer in less than a minute and a half to give the Jayhawks a 30-24 lead.  The Jayhawks offense would continue to roll and in fitting fashion Houle would hit a 3 point shot with 6 seconds left to give the Jayhawks the lead 44-31.  The third period had the Commodores outscore the Jayhawks but the Jayhawks offense continued to put up points as the Jayhawks led at the end of the third period 54-42.  In the fourth period, the Commodores closed within 10 points of the Jayhawks (57-47) with 4 minutes left to play.  Then #11 Hayden Burgeson (Lakewood) hit a 3 point shot which broke the game open again and the Jayhawks would go on to win 64-50.

The Jayhawks were led by #30 Natalie Houle (Sherman) who had 16 points (including 4 Three Point Shots), 4 rebounds, and 3 steals; #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) had 14 points (including 3 Three Point Shots), 4 rebounds, and 3 steals; #34 Kaleigh Brunswick (South Dayton) had 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals; #20 Sydney Wight (Wellsville) had 9 points and 8 rebounds; #11 Hayden Burgeson (Lakewood) had 5 points, #33 Brianne Davis (Bemus Point) had 4 points and 10 rebounds; and #21 Alexis Hallberg (Bemus Point) had 4 points.
