Jayhawks Get First Win of the Season

The JCC Jayhawks women's basketball team (1-3) went on the road to face the Panthers of the University of Pitt-Titusville (1-5).  The Jayhawks started out hot in the first period, outscoring the Panthers 28-15.  The second quarter saw the Jayhawks continue to play sound defense and have great rebounding on their way to a 46-27 half time lead.  The third period saw the Panthers come roaring back, outscoring the Jayhawks 31-13 to make the game a 59-58 thriller.  The 4th period saw the Jayhawks answer the call as they dropped 21 points on the Panthers to get their first win of the season 80-68.  3 pointers are beginning to become a staple in the Jayhawks offense as the Jayhawks shot almost 42% from beyond the arc, connecting on 10 3-pointers. 

The Jayhawks were led by #4 Emilee Sperry (Panama) who had 17 points (including 5 3-pointers), 6 rebounds, and 4 steals; #33 Brianne Davis (Bemus Point) had 13 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists; #22 Jada Jackson (Wellsboro) had 12 points and 7 rebounds; #20 Sydney Wight (Wellsville) had 10 points and 9 rebounds; #34 Kaleigh Brunswick (South Dayton) had 10 points, 6 assists, and 3 rebounds; #30 Natalie Houle (Sherman) had 9 points and 4 assists; #45 Tayler Morrison (Australia) had 7 points, and #11 Hayden Burgeson (Lakewood) had 4 steals, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
