The Jamestown Community College Jayhawks women's basketball team (NJCAA Div. II, 10-0) went on the road to take on the Surge of Cincinnati State Technical & CC (NJCAA div. II, 6-1) as part of the Monroe CC Tournament. The Jayhawks and Surge went back and forth in a well matched, defensive battle with the Jayhawks leading at the half 30 -27. The game continued back and forth with the Surge coming back and sending the game into overtime with the score tied up 49-49. The well matched teams and strategies continued as the first overtime ended in a 56-56 tie and sent the game into a second overtime period. In the second overtime the teams again played equally, ending in a 63-63 tie sending the game into a third overtime. In the third overtime the Surge were able to persevere, handing the Jayhawks their first defeat of the season, 68-71. JCC sophomores #24 Akiah Luceus (Victory Collegiate) and #20 Nakisha Saintval (North Miami Beach) both recorded a double double. The Jayhawks were led by #11 Elle Reed's (Sherman) 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists; Luceus' 14 points and 11 rebounds; #21 Alex Sullivan's (Southwestern) 13 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists; Saintval's 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks; #40 Corri Hannon's (Falconer) 5 points and 13 rebounds; and #22 Lacey Clark's (Dunkirk) 6 rebounds.
