Jayhawks Finish Runner-Up in Non-Scholarship at Nationals

FORT PIERCE, Fla. - Finishing strong at the National Junior College Athletic Association, the Jamestown Community College men's swimming team finished runner-up in the non-scholarship division, finishing eighth overall with 120 team points.

 

Sophomore Elliot Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) started the day off in the 50 yard butterfly, posting a time of 28.18 to finish 22nd.

 

In the 1650 yard freestyle, freshman Colby Pantall (Jamestown, NY/Maple Grove HS) set a new personal record with a time of 19:33.93 to finish 16th.Fellow teammate Jackson Vanstrom(Jamestown, NY/Jamestown HS) also had a new personal best in the event, finishing with a time of 21:07.48 to finish 17th.

 

Competing in the 100 yard freestyle, Elliot Johnson  improved on his personal best, posting a time of 53.23 to finish 19th.

 

Freshman Eathan Johnson (Panama, NY/Panama Central) improved on his time in the 200 yard breaststroke, finishing with a time of 2:35.53 to finish 17th. Fellow teammate Matthew Fennell (Fourways Garden, Johannesburg, South Africa/King Edwards VII School) also had  a personal best in the event, posting a time of 2:42.37 to finish 19th.

 

The Jayhawks wrapped up the championships in the 400 yard freestyle relay as the team of Pantall, Vanstrom, Fennell, and Elliot Johnson finished in eighth place with a time of 3:47.13.
