Jayhawks blank the Kats in sub-regional action

FALCONER – The No.6 seeded Jamestown Community College men's soccer team dominated the No. 11 seeded Erie Community College Tuesday evening, 4-0 at Falconer High School.

The Jayhawks (12-5-3) had a strong offensive showing as they connected on four of ten shots on goal, shooting just under 50 percent on the night. Jesse Da Costa was able to crack the scoring column for JCC, scoring in the 11th minute off the feed from Dan Mattock. JCC was able to tack on one more before intermission as Michael Andalora was able to sneak by the goalkeeper for the header off the direct kick from Axel Richardson in the 44th minute. The Jayhawks would take a 2-0 lead and the momentum into the half.

Axel Richardson was able to get into the scoring column as well with a goal in the 77th minute to ice the game. Tyler West was also able to score late in the match with a goal coming in the 88th minute.

"Our team's intensity was excellent tonight," said Head Coach Pat Anderson. "The players worked hard to earn scoring opportunities and to play a quality defense."

Goalkeeper Jakob Moore went the distance in net for the Jayhawks, making three saves on three shots faced.

JCC was able to ground the Kats attack as they only put three shots on goals out of 14 total shots. ECC also had the advantage in corner kicks, 6-3.

"We are ready to face GCC on Thursday," Anderson continued to say. "It will be an excellent test to see where we are as a team."

JCC will travel to Batavia this Thursday for a Region III regional showdown against No. 3 seed Genesee Community College. Kick-off is yet to be determined.
