Jayhawks catch few breaks in tough loss

The JCC Jayhawks Men's Soccer Team (1-10-2) hosted the Hornets of SUNY Broome Community College (11-1).  Two teams headed in opposite directions took the field in Jamestown with the Hornets having won 11 of their 12 contests this season while the Jayhawks have not won a game since August.  However, what appeared to be a mismatch on win loss records did not translate to a mismatch on the field.  The Hornets scored early (11:10) to take a 1-0 lead but the Jayhawks did not waiver in their season long determination on defense.  Both teams failed to put the goal in the net the rest of the first half.  The second half resumed right where the first half had left off, with both teams playing physical soccer with a no quarter asked, and none given mindset.  Then with around 10 minutes left to play the Jayhawks appeared to tie the game but the celebration was short lived as the goal was waived off by officials due to offsides being called.  With less than 5 minutes to play, the Hornets scored again to put the game out of reach and down the Jayhawks in a hard fought battle 2-0.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #10 Raymond Amborski (Westfield) who had 3 shots on goal.  On defense, the Jayhawks were led by goalie #1 Adriano DeRossi (Austalia) who had 9 saves while facing 11 shots on goal.
