Jayhawks play tough but lose in overtime

The JCC Jayhawks men's soccer team (0-2) hosted the Hawks of Mohawk Valley Community College (1-0).  The Hawks scored first (38:37) to take a 1-0 lead into the half.  Both teams played with speed and defensive aggressiveness in the first half and this continued into the second half where the Jayhawks got on the board with a goal from #7 Tate Reynolds (Salamanca), assisted by #10 Raymond Amborski (Westfield), to tie the game 1-1.  The score remained tied at the end of the second half sending the game into a sudden death overtime where the first score wins.  In overtime, a penalty allowed a free kick for the Hawks.  The kick, best described after the game by a Jayhawks player as such a perfect kick that "two goalies couldn't have stopped it", hung high and snuck into the upper right corner of the net to give the Hawks the overtime win 2-1 over the Jayhawks.   The Jayhawks defense was led by #8 Jordan Lymberis (Australia) who faced 4 shots and had 2 saves.
