ROCHESTER - Facing another early-season test, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team fell to No. 3 Sullivan County Community College Saturday afternoon by a score of 88-63 at the Murph Shapiro Classic hosted by Monroe Community College.
The Jayhawks (2-3) were provided a spark offensively from the bench with sophomore guard/forward Josiah Ransom (Orange Park, FL/Helena HS) scored 21 points, going 6-for-8 (75 percent) from the floor, 2-for-3 (66.6 percent) from three-point range, and 7-for-9 (77.8 percent) from the free throw line. Freshman guard Jared Martin (Norwich, CT/Springfield Commonwealth Academy) added 12 points in the effort.
JCC went 18-for-45 (40 percent) from the field with SCCC going 35-for-61 (57.4 percent) from the floor. The Generals grabbed 37 rebounds to the Jayhawks' 25 boards.
The Jayhawks will have a quick turnaround, facing Cecil College tomorrow, November 13th, on the final day of the Murph Shapiro Classic at 4 p.m.
