JAMESTOWN - After their long winter break, the Jamestown Community College men's basketball team will be back in action this Wednesday evening as they take on Butler County Community College.
The Jayhawks (6-6) are coming off an 80-58 win over Lorain County Community College in late December. JCC was led offensively by Jordan Thomas who had 22 points while Sheick Kourmora added 15 points. Jamestown had 10 player make their way to the scoring column.
In their last game against the Pioneers, the Jayhawks came away with an 85-73 win. Thomas led the way for JCC as he netted 25 points with Kourmora adding 11 points. Thomas and Donathan Daniels came up big on the boards, grabbing eight rebounds each. Jamestown shot effectively from the floor, going 37-for-66 while making 85.7 percent of their free throws.
JCC is scoring 82.8 points per game with Issac Allen leading the way with 18 points per game followed by Kourmora with 16.6 points and Jordan Thomas with 13.7 points per game. On the glass, the Jayhawks are grabbing 40.1 rebound per game with Jake Hougan leading the way with 6.4 rebounds per game. Thomas is close behind him with 5.7 rebounds per game.
The Pioneers will look to snap a five-game losing streak that first started in the team?s last meeting. Butler County comes in with a 2-12 record with their most recent loss coming against Mercyhurst North East, 119-95. In the game, Andrew Yonker who had 44 points with Jamir Carter adding 23 points form off the bench. Julian Sanks had nine rebounds.
In their last game against Jamestown, the Pioneers were led by Carter with 29 points and Jacob Slomers with 11 points. Kaiden Young finished the game with a double-double, grabbing 10 rebounds and dishing out 10 assists.
Butler County is scoring 79.1 points per game and are led by Carter with 24.2 points per game, Yonker with 17.9 points per game and Julian Sanks with 14.5 points per game. Yonkers has led the way on the glass, grabbing 6.3 rebounds per game.
The team will play at 7 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex.
