Jayhawks look to snap a three game skid against Mercyhurst North East

JAMESTOWN – After facing three straight nationally ranked teams in as many games, the Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team will look to get back in the win column Wednesday evening against Mercyhurst North East.

 

The Jayhawks (7-9, 0-2 WNYAC) are coming off a 90-77 loss against No. 14 Niagara County Community College this past Saturday. In the game, Jordan Thomas had 20 points with Sheick Kourmora adding 18 points. Donathan Daniels had an exceptional game running the offense, finishing with 12 points and nine assists. Jake Hougan crashed the boards for Jamestown, finishing with seven rebounds (2 offense, 5 defense).

 

On the season, JCC is averaging 82.4 points per game with Kourmora and Thomas both scoring 16.6 points per game. On the boards, Hougan and Thomas have both grabbed 6.3 rebounds per game with the team grabbing 38.7 rebounds per game.

 

Jamestown will face a Saints team that have lost their last four games, most recently against Genesee Community College. Ian McNeil had a triple-double for the Saints, finishing with 11 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists. Jonathan Sula led the team with 19 points.

 

On the season, Mercyhurst North East has averaged 78.4 points per game with Samad Bailey leading the way with 17.2 points per contest. Tyler Williams and Aaron Slaughter also average double digits per game. On the glass, Slaughter has grabbed eight boards per game with McNeil averaging 6.5 rebounds per contest. As a team, the Saints average 41.2 rebounds per game.

 

Wednesday’s game will tip at 7:30 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex.
