Jayhawks to face MCC Saturday afternoon

JAMESTOWN – Reaching the halfway point of the conference schedule, the Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team is still looking to get a win in the conference.

 

The Jayhawks (7-10, 0-3 WNYAC) are coming off an 81-65 loss to Mercyurst North East this past Wednesday in conference action. In the game, Jordan Thomas led the way with a double-double, dropping 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds (4 offense, 6 defense) with Sheick Kourmora adding 20 points. Jake Hougan grabbed 10 rebounds (3 offense, 7 defense) while Kyle Butler dished out eight assists.

 

On the season, the Jayhawks are averaging 81.4 points per contest, shooting 46.3 percent from the floor. Thomas and Kourmora are leading the way with just under 17 points each. On the glass, Thomas and Hougan both average 6.5 rebounds per game with the team grabbing 38.9 rebounds per contest.

 

Jamestown will face a hungry Monroe Community College team that also have not won a game in conference action. The Tribunes are fresh off a 73-58 loss to No. 13 Niagara County Community College this past Wednesday. In the contest, Keysean Faulkner-Smith had a team-high 13 points while Naeqwan Tomlin and Austin James had 12 had 10 points, respectively. Tomlin and James where both one rebound shy of securing double-doubles for MCC.

 

On the season, the Tribunes have mustard 75.0 points per contest, shooting 41.9 percent from the field. Tomlin leads the team in scoring, scoring 13.1 points per game while Willard Anderson has averaged 12.5 points per contest. On the glass, MCC has grabbed 39.7 points per game with Tomlin getting 9.5 rebounds per contest.

 

The game will be played this Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Physical Education Complex.
