JAMESTOWN – The Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team will look to get in the win column this weekend as they travel to Mercyhurst North East.
The Jayhawks (7-14, 0-7 WNYAC) fell to No. 16 Niagara County Community College this past Wednesday, 97-75. Sheick Kourmora came alive for Jamestown, scoring 29 points on the night. Kyle Butler and Donathan Daniels both had exceptional games, scoring nine points and getting five assists each.
Last time the Jayhawks faced the Saints, Jamestown fell 81-65. Thomas led the way with 21 points while Kourmora added 20 points. Thomas rounded out his night with 10 rebounds (4 offense, 6 defense) with Hougan also adding 10 rebounds (3offense, 7 defense). Butler had a great game running the points, coming away with eight assists.
In conference action, JCC has scored 71.1 points per game while shooting 39.6 percent from the floor. Jordan Thomas leads the way on offense, scoring 21.5 points per game. Kourmora has also been a good source of offense, scoring 15.1 points per game.
On the glass, Jamestown has grabbed 32.7 rebounds per game. Thomas also leads the team in rebounds per game with 7.7. Jake Hougan has grabbed 4.7 rebounds per game, respectively.
JCC will face a Saints team with a season record of 8-14 and a conference record of 1-6. The Saints are trying to break a four game skid with their last loss coming against Genesee Community College, 85-73. Ian McNeil record a double-double on the night, scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 rebounds (4 offense, 6 defense). Aaron Slaughter finished with a team-high 18 points.
Last time out against the Jayhawks, the Saints had four players score in double digits. Tyler Williams had 19 points while Jonathan Sula had 15 points and eight rebounds (3 offense, 5 defense). Slaughter had nine points and eight boards (2 offense, 6 defense).
On the year in conference action, the Saints are averaging 66 points while shooting 40.6 percent. Slaughter leads the offense with 11 points per game with Williams chipping in with 10.7 points per game.
On the glass, the Saints are averaging 42.9 rebounds per game. McNeil and Slaughter lead the way on the boards, grabbing seven rebounds each in conference action.
