Jayhawks look to carry their momentum on the road

JAMESTOWN - Riding a two-game win streak, the Jamestown Community College men-s basketball team will hit the road this weekend for back-to-back games.

The Jayhawks (5-4) are coming off an 85-73 win over Butler County Community College last Wednesday evening. Jordan Thomas led JCC with 25 points in the contest, shooting 12-of-16 from the field. Sheick Kourmora was the other Jayahwk to score in double figures with 11 points. Jamestown had 11 players find the scoring column on the night. Donathan Daniels and Thomas cleaned up the glass with eight boards each while Kyle Butler dished out eight assists.

On the year, JCC is averaging 83.7 points per game to go along with 41.6 rebounds a game, ranking second in Region III. Jamestown is not afraid to make the extra pass, averaging just over 15 assists per game.

The Cougars will enter the contest with a 6-3 record with their most current gaming being an 88-72 win over Cuyahoga Community College, a team JCC fell to in a 70-66 battle. On the year, Columbus State is scoring 85.8 points per game while grabbing 46.8 rebounds per contest.

Columbus State is led offensively by Elijah Bishop with 12.6 points per game with Corey Baker scoring 11.7 points per game. Jeremiah Green rounds out the double digit scorers for the Cougars, scoring 10.6 points per game. Bishops leads the team in rebounds with 7.6 rebounds per contest with Baker and Keshawn Underwood grabbing 5.4 rebounds per game each.

On Saturday, the Jayhawks will travel to Dayton, Ohio to face Sinclair Community College. The Tartan Pride have posted a 5-4 record on the year with their most recent game being an 85-67 loss to Tri-C. Sinclair have scored just under 80 points per contest while grabbing 45 rebounds per game.

The Tartan Pride are led by Ryan Stowers with 22.1 points per game while Nate Ward averages 18 points per game. Sinclair have five guys that can grab rebounds, all averaging just over six rebounds per contest.

Action starts Friday at 7:30 p.m. against Columbus State at the Delaware Hall Athletic Center. Jamestown will face Sinclair on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Physical Activities Center Gymnasium.
