Jayhawks eager for first conference win

JAMESTOWN – Looking to get their first conference win of the season, the Jamestown Community College men’s basketball team will travel to Genesee Community College Wednesday evening.

 

The Jayhawks (7-11, 0-4 WNYAC) are coming off a 75-63 loss to Monroe Community College this past Saturday in conference action. In the game, Jordan Thomas led the way with 22 points and seven rebounds. Kyle Butler came alive for Jamestown, dropping 14 points. Sheick Kourmora added 11 points off the bench.

 

Jamestown is averaging 80.3 points per game while shooting 45.9 percent from the field. Thomas leads all scorers with 17.2 points while Kourmora is adding 16.5 points per game. On the glass, Jamestown grabs 38.4 rebounds per game with Thomas and Jake Hougan averaging just over six rebounds each.

 

JCC will face a Cougars team that is 14-6 on the season and 2-2 in WNYAC play. In their last time out, GCC defeated Bryant & Stratton Syracuse, 93-87. The Cougars had all five starters score in double figures with Selassie Bourne leading the way with 19 points. Jean Aristil also had a good day for the Cougars, scoring 18 points.

 

On the season, the Cougars are scoring 84.7 points per game while shooting 44.4 percent from the field. Four players are averaging double digits per game with Bourne scoring 23.8 points per game. On the glass, the Cougars average 38.7 rebounds per game with Devin Green grabbing seven rebounds per game.
