CORNING - The Jamestown Community College men's basketball team kicked-off the 2019-20 season at the WNYAC/MSAC Crossover Classic, splitting the two games played.
The Jayhawks (1-1, 0-0 WNYAC) was able to get the win over SUNY Broome Community College by 71-68. Isaac Allen was able to provide JCC with great offense, going 7-for-13 from the floor for 18 points. Sophomore guard Donathan Daniels had 11 points on the night while freshman big man Jake Hougan had his first collegiate double-double, finishing with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Jordan Thomas was able to provide the Jayhawks with a spark off the bench, coming away with 12 points and grabbed seven boards. Freshman guard Kyle Butler had an efficient game controlling the offense, coming away with seven dimes and adding seven points.
On Sunday, JCC fell to Corning Community College, 86-80. The Jayhawks fought hard in the second half, outscoring the Barons 51-40 in the second half. Allen led the way for JCC, finishing with 43 points. Allen shot and efficient 19-for-21 from the charity line. Hougan had another impressive game down in the low post, grabbing 11 rebounds to go with eight points. Butler continued to take command of the offense, finishing with nine assists and seven points. Thomas had another nice game coming off the bench with eight points and eight rebounds.
The Jayhawks with travel to Pitt.-Titusville this Thursday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
