Slow and Steady Wins the Race for the Jayhawks

The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (14-10) hosted the Kats of Erie Community College (14-8).  The first half was action packed.  Both teams came out confident and both teams were equally aggressive on offense and defense.  Neither coach felt they were getting a fair shake from the officials and both teams were playing their hardest to gain in edge as both teams seemed to match up extremely well.  The Kats took the lead and held it for the first 8 minutes of play.  The Jayhawks then took the lead and the Kats tied the game twice in the next 12 minutes as the fast paced action continued until the half ended with the Jayhawks in the lead 38-33.

The Second half started right where the first half left off with both teams driving hard to the basket with aggressive offenses and tough defenses.  This stalemate was lifted when the Jayhawks began to execute their offense calmly, settling the players down, and going back to their strengths.  This showcased Mike Bush 's ball distribution; Derek Ice 's all around play, Brandon Kemp 's inside play; Tyler Moffe 's lethal 3 point accuracy; and the menacing inside play and rebounding of Jean Toussaint.  With the Jayhawks offense now running on their desired rhythm, they were able to pull away from the Kats and the game came to an end with the scoreboard reading 82-63 in favor of the Jayhawks.

The Jayhawks were led by #12 Tyler Moffe who had 25 points (4-6 from beyond the arc) and 4 rebounds; #34 Jean Toussaint had a double double consisting of 14 points, 19 rebounds, and 4 blocks; #32 Brandon Kemp (Brooklyn) had a double double of 12 points and 11 rebounds; #21 Brandon Banna had 10 points and 7 rebounds; and #22 Dashawn Branch had 9 points and 4 rebounds.
