Jayhawks Dominate

The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (3-4) went on the road to face the Isaiah Christopher Basketball Academy in their second match at the Murph Shapiro Basketball Classic hosted by Monroe CC.   After losing the previous night on a last second buzzer beater, the Jayhawks looked to start off strong from the start.  While the game started close, the Jayhawks pulled away in the first half, gaining a 21 point lead at one point as they took a 57-39 lead into the half.  The second half saw the Jayhawks continue to dominate and build a 20 point lead.  It was cut down to a 9 point lead for a brief period but the Jayhawks never let up and pulled away as they defeated the Isaiah Christopher Basketball Academy 105-80.

Quotes courtesy of the Jamestown Post Journal:  "We were a little big bigger inside, but what we were able to do was maximize that," Jamestown CC coach George Sisson said. "We've played teams where we've been bigger but we weren't able to deliver the goods to the post. I thought we did our best job all year of delivering the ball and having them finish well."  The winners also received 29 points from their bench.  "Moffe had a breakout day for us and we got a nice lift off the bench," Sisson said. " (Dashawn) Branch and (Carter) Davidson hit a couple 3s. We haven't shot the ball well from the perimeter. That was much improved for us."

The Jayhawks were led by #32 Brandon Kemp (Brooklyn) who had a double double of 25 points and 11 rebounds;  #12 Tyler Moffe had 21 points and 5 rebounds; #4 Michael Bush (Harlem) had 19 points, 7 assists, and 4 rebounds; #34 Jean Toussaint had a double double of 11 points and 15 rebounds; #22 Dashawn Branch had 9 points and 4 rebounds; #24 Keishawn Butler had 7 points and 7 rebounds; #33 Carter Davidson had 6 points (2 – 3 pointers); and #20 Tanner Dahl (Westfield) had 5 points.
