The JCC Jayhawks men's basketball team (NJCAA Div II, 23-6) went on the road to Monroe Community College to face the Kats of Erie Community College (NJCAA Div II, 16-12) in the NJCAA Div II, Region 3 semifinals. The Kats got off to a fast start early taking a 7-0 lead and were up 16-8 with 11 minutes left to play. Things were not looking good for the Jayhawks as they were down 29-19 with less than 5 minutes left to play in the first half. But the Jayhawks kept chiseling away at the score and stayed focus, and went on a 14-2 run to close out the half giving them a 33-31 lead. The second half saw the Kats quickly tie the game 33-33 but that is the last time they would remain close to the Jayhawks as the Jayhawks outscored the Kats 50-40 in the second half on their way to a 83-71 come from behind win. The Jayhawks will face the Tribunes of Monroe Community College on Sunday, February 28th at noon for the Division II, Region 3 championship. The Jayhawks were led by #24 Rakim Lesane 's (Coney Island) 22 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists; #21 Kyle Taylor-Mcleggan 's (Harlem) 21 points and 3 rebounds; #22 Samuel Joseph 's (Brooklyn) 17 points; #4 Michael Bush 's (Harlem) 8 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists; and #40 Brian Roberts ' (Cleveland) 7 points and 8 rebounds.
