YOUNGWOOD, Pa. –After being forced to cancel Tuesday's contest, the Jamestown Community College men's baseball team was able to get onto the diamond for its first NJCAA Division III action of the spring season at Westmoreland CC on Wednesday afternoon.

"It was a good day to get outside and play baseball. We were really excited to no longer be in the gym," said Jamestown CC head coach Matt Cummings.

The Wolfpack won the first game of a twin bill, 8-2, while Jamestown CC rallied for a 4-2 win in the second.

Westmoreland CC scored three runs in the third inning of Game 1, one in the fifth and four more in the sixth while Tyler Kuhns put together a strong performance on the mound with six strikeouts and two walks in the victory.

"The first game we played well, but made some defensive errors that contributed to the loss. Really proud of our guys to bounce back and come away with a win in game two. That was a team win and that is going to be our style of play, not asking our pitchers to strike out 10 guys a game," said Cummings.

In the opener, the Jayhawks' Zach Kelley and Braiden Blair each cracked doubles, Roberto Aracena added a triple and a single in support of pitchers Evan Harrison and Luke Heil. Harrison gave up five hits and struck out five with three walks in 4• innings before giving way to Heil in relief.

The Jayhawks got out of the gate early in Game 2, scoring three runs in the opening frame and riding their defense the rest of the way.

Aracena had atwo hits in the win with a walk while Caleb Caldwell finished with an RBI single and Paul Tripi an RBI single to lead the offense while Kelley added another double.

Caldwell threw his way through 3• innings, fanning two and walking three to pick up the win while Kelley and Blair split time on the hill in relief.

"To watch Zack Kelley come out of right field and on to the mound in game two, he threw well," Cummings said. " Today was a very good step forward for our pitching staff."

The Jayhawks are scheduled to host Erie CC at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
