DRYDEN — Jamestown Community College's baseball team hung close throughout both games of Thursday's NJCAA Region 3 Division III doubleheader against Tompkins Cortland CC, but the Jayhawks suffered losses in both, falling 8-5 in game one, and 5-4 in game two.

Christian Castro hurt the Jayhawks in the first contest.

Castro collected two hits, including a home run, and drove in three runs. Eric Arcangel delivered two hits as well for the winners.

For Jamestown CC (9-13, 9-11), Matt Hair ripped two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs while Andrew Latona, Cameron Haberberger and DJ Yates also picked up hits.

John White got the start on the mound for the Jayhawks and worked 4.1 innings. Steve Krystofiak worked the final 1.2 innings.

In the tightly contested game-two loss, Hair smacked two more hits and collected two more RBIs. Nelson Rivera, Brett Payne, Noah Whalen and Rob Gugino all recorded singles.

Ryan Johnson toed the rubber for the Jayhawks and worked five innings, surrendered six hits, gave up five runs (two earned) and struck out three. Krystofiak saw action on the hill again and worked a scoreless frame.

Garret Hunter had two hits in the victory for Tompkins Cortland CC.
