Jayhawks Baseball vs Erie CC (double header)

The JCC Jayhawks men's baseball team (NJCAA Div III, 8-29) went on the road to face the Kats of Erie Community College (NJCAA Div III) in double header action.  The game seemed locked in a pitching duel as the first 2 innings left the game a 0-0 tie.  The 3rd inning saw the Kats score a run and what would turn out to be the first of many runs during a classic seesaw battle that would follow.  The Kats 1-0 lead was quickly taken away by the Jayhawks who scored 2 runs in the 4th inning.  The Kats quickly took the lead again scoring 2 runs in the 5th to take a 3-2 lead.  The Jayhawks took the lead again 4-3 after scoring 2 runs in the top of the 6th.  However, the bottom of the 6th saw the Kats score 2 runs of their own to once again take the lead 5-4.  This is where the scoring would stop as after a scoreless 7th inning, the Kats held on for the 5-4 victory over the Jayhawks.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #10 Michael Williamson (Cuba) who had 3 hits, scored 1 run, and had 1 RBI;  #7 Noah Weinstein (Jamestown) had 2 hits and scored 1 run; #24 Noah Whalen (Buffalo), #8 Michael Keller (Clarence), and #2 Cam Haberberger (Jamestown) each had 1 hit and 1 RBI; #18 Michael Wilcox (Falconer) had 1 hit and scored 1 run; and #6 Jimmy Schuab (Falconer) scored 1 run.  The Jayhawks pitching was led by #3 John White (Warren) (0-4) who faced 32 batters while allowing 12 hits, 5 earned runs, and struck out 2 batters.

The second half of the double header saw the Jayhawks hope to continue their seesaw battle with the Kats but that was not meant to be.  After a scoreless 1st inning, the Kats opened the scoring floodgates and scored 5 runs in the 2nd inning.  A scoreless 3rd inning saw the Kats add 2 more runs to take a 7-0 lead in the 4th inning.  Things did not change as a scoreless 5th inning was followed by a run scored by the Kats in the 6th inning.  A scoreless 7th inning allowed the Kats to complete the shut out of the Jayhawks by the score of 8-0.  The Jayhawks offense was led by #5 Kyle Mayer (Mayville), #8 Michael Keller (Clarence), and  #4 Justin Forster (East Otto) who had 1 hit each.  The Jayhawks pitching was led by #9 Jeff Miller (Jamestown) (1-4) who faced 22 batters while allowing 5 hits, 4 earned runs, and striking out 1 batter.
