Athletic Training

Dear Incoming and Returning Jayhawk Student-Athletes,

On behalf of the Athletics Department, I would like to welcome you to the Jamestown Community College athletic family; if you’re a returning student-athlete, welcome back! I hope that each and every one of you have a safe (and injury free) experience with us here! The goal of Jamestown Community College’s athletic trainer is to provide and ensure that you will receive the best possible care, using the most up-to-date medical practices and is committed to the health and well-being of each student-athlete.

Jamestown Community College’s athletic training room is located within the Physical Education Complex, adjacent to the gymnasium. It is comprised of one athletic trainer, who is dedicated to providing and delivering professional and comprehensive evaluation techniques, preventative treatment, and rehabilitation services to all JCC student-athletes. The certified athletic trainer possesses a master’s degree, is nationally board certified, is state licensed, and is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) as well as the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association (NYSATA).

Athletic Training Room

The athletic training room (room # 149) is located within the Physical Education Complex and is located in the northeast corner of the facility. You will walk through the gymnasium to get to the athletic training room. The athletic training room is next to the Multi-Purpose room (room # 148).

Jamestown Community College’s athletic trainer provides care for injuries sustained while participating in your selected intercollegiate sport during the academic year. Jamestown Community College is not required to provide medical treatment for illness or injury resulting outside of your intercollegiate sport. The student-athlete is responsible for reporting all injuries and illnesses as a result of practice or competition to the Athletic Trainer (ATC) as soon as possible from the occurrence.

Athletic Training Room Hours

The athletic training room hours will vary based on the number of sports that are in-season, practice and competition schedules, and the availability of the athletic trainer. The athletic trainer puts a weekly schedule up on the athletic training room door that designates what and where are going on at specific times during the day and hours will vary as the academic year progresses. The athletic training room will be open two (2) hours prior to home competitions and will be open post-competition on an as needed basis. Weekend hours (Saturday and Sunday) will vary based on the sports season and practice/ competition schedules.

Medical Forms and Documents

As a requirement from the NJCAA, each student-athlete wishing to participate in intercollegiate athletics at Jamestown Community College MUST have all pre-participation documents and an annual physical complete prior to any participation. It is the student-athlete’s responsibility to make sure that all pre-participation forms, physical, and any other pertinent information listed has been provided to the athletic trainer. If any forms are incomplete or are missing, the student-athlete will not be allowed to participate until it is received. Please refer to the Student Athlete tab for all pre-participation paperwork.
