Eight athletes, two staff members to be inducted into Phi Theta Kappa

JAMESTOWN – Phi Theta Kappa has announced that eight athletes and two athletic event staff members of Jamestown Community College will be inducted into the Alpha Kappa Beta Chapter next weekend.

 

Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two-year college students. Established in 1918, Phi Theta Kappa is active on almost 1,300 community college campuses with approximately 250,000 active members.

 

To be eligible, students must have completed at least 12 hours of coursework that may be applied to an associate degree. Students must also have obtained a grade point average on 3.5 along with receiving invitation from the membership chapter. Lastly, students must adhere to the more standards of the society.

 

New members from JCC athletic include Izzy Bursch (women’s basketball), Jenna Caskey (volleyball), Cameryn Hawkins (volleyball), Linnea Jimerson (women’s basketball), Axel Richardson (men’s soccer), Matt See (baseball), Hannah Sholl (women’s soccer) and Jesse Zenns (women’s basketball). The two event staff members that will also be recognized are Veronica Benini and Bagul Mammedova. Benini has worked volleyball, men’s basketball and women’s basketball while Mammedova has worked men’s and women’s basketball games for Jamestown.

 

There will be a total of 52 new members getting inducted next Saturday, February 22, at 1 p.m. in the Scharmann Theatre.
